Thank you for all the interest in the sock club! We are sold out and closed for this round. If all goes well I do plan to do more! I was really surprised how fast spots sold out, thank you everyone!
We received the seacell/merino blend the other day, half of it’s dyed and drying, the other half will be dyed tomorrow night.
We are still waiting on our 100% merino *sigh*, I will have to call them Monday and see what the hold up is.
I had some people test knitting the sport weight and so far there’s been nothing but love and I know I love it so keep an eye out for Sport in the near future.
I’m in the process of deciding on 2 bamboo blends.
That’s it for yarn news! ![]()
Hello All!
Basics-
The Dead Poet’s Sock Club will run in 3-month rounds, featuring one poet per round. Every month on the 15th a package will be mailed to you. Every package will contain a custom colorway and swag inspired by the current poet and his/her works. The first package will reveal the identity of our featured poet and the second package will contain a pattern designed especially for us. Other dead poets will be featured in future sock club rounds.
Each of the colorways and pattern are custom created for the sock club. They will remain exclusive for 6 months (the length of the round + three months following).
Yarn bases will include: 100% superwash merino, superwash merino/seacell blend & superwash merino/bamboo blend.
Specifics-
This round will run from August-October. Our September pattern designer this round is Laura (lala on Ravelry)! Since this is the first installment of the Sock Club, I have splurged a little on the swag to kick us off!
Sock Club payment must be paid in full as I am currently unable to accept payment on a monthly basis. The cost does include shipping to the USA, Canada and any international orders.
USA: $80.00, Priority mail
Canada: $85.00, 1st class international
International: $90.00, 1st class international
There are 20 spots available. Sign-Ups will open sometime on Monday the 16th or Tuesday the 17th and will close on July 31st. First package will be mailed August 15th.
Please, if you have any question or comments do not hesitate to contact me on Ravelry or reply to this post! Thanks!
Thank you everyone for making PDY’s debut at The Loopy Ewe such a success! In a day we almost sold out! The semi-solids are harder to sell so they lasted a wee bit longer, there are still a few skeins left of Rose-Lipt Maiden, poor beautiful Rose-Lipt Maiden. I hope you enjoy your yarn(s)! Let me know what you bought! If you are on Ravelry don’t forget to enter the yarn into your stash and stop by the PDY Group
Yes, there will be more on its way to TLE ![]()
If you are a member of Ravelry don’t forget to join the Perfect Day Yarns group! I asked in the PDY group if there would be any real interest in a PDY sock club, the response I got was awesome! So in the near future there will be a PDY sock club! The reason I recommend joining the Ravelry group is because all the announcements and inquires are usually posted there first. When sock club sign-ups are made available it will be announced there first for instance, probably a day before it’s announced here on the blog.
I have goodies and ideas and a theme all ready, I just have to work on the time line and make sure my suppliers will be able to get my yarn to me in time, as well as finalize club costs. So far the only details I have are that it will be 3 months long, a package a month, only one installment will contain a pattern, but all will have goodies of some kind, and I will be keeping it small with only 20 spots available (since this is my first I want to start small).
The PDY Contest Winner is SoxyRae with the guess of 134 skeins!! Congratulations SoxyRae!! I’ll be e-mailing you shortly for your mailing address
Thank you, everyone, for your comments and guesses! It was fun to see the guesses range form the 70’s to over 400!
The yarn will be delivered to TLE today! Of course that doesn’t mean PDY will be up in the next sneak up, but it does mean keep your eyes open
As for updating the shop- I have to wait for my new electric skeinwinder and swift to arrive so that I can wind the yarn to dye it, I’m trying to be patient and dye some preskeined while we wait. Also, I’ll be looking for some input from you guys in the next few days, both here and on the Ravelry board, any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for entering the contest and congrats again to SoxyRae!
The wholesale order for The Loopy Ewe is complete! It will be mailed out in the next few days! Yay!
First I talk, the contest will be at the bottom of the post if you are here just for that.
That wholesale order kicked my butt. I have a limited time to dye a day to start and for the past month+ my children and I have been passing a cold/flu/something back and forth between us so I’ve either been sick or taking care of the sick, then there was the week Ben had the kitchen torn apart and unusable to install a dishwasher (yay!), some quality control issues with my yarn base, plus I had not anticipated how long it would take me to hand wind all those skeins by hand. My method is not very efficient and all the wear and t ear resulted in a newly broken swift. *sigh*
Needless to say the first thing I plan to buy when I’m paid is an electric skein winder!
And more yarn so I can update the shop, of course. I’m so sorry the shop was neglected while I worked on the wholesale order. This has definitely been a learning experience on many levels, I especially need to learn to better balance wholesale and the shop.
I will be out of town for a few days, once I get back I will dye up the remaining yarn I have here until I can order more.
Ok, enough of that, it’s contest time, right? Right! To celebrate PDY’s first completed wholesale order we are having a contest!
How it works- Just guess how many skeins are headed to The Loopy Ewe! Anyone and everyone can join, even those who I told how many skeins Sheri ordered. Why? Because due to some issues with my base yarn I was not able to fulfill the original order (yes, very very sad). Just leave me a comment to this post with your guess. If more than one person guesses the right number then the random number generator will decide the winner.
Here are a few pictures of the order stacked up on my dining room table, yes the yarn that is not skeined in the first photo is part of the order.
What will you win?
A skein of PDY Beat Sock in Seafoam- Dark & a Piddleloop Piddly bag

As well as a few other small treats- sample of soak in Aquae, stitchmarkers, a Loopy Ewe tape measure (of course!) & maybe more if I find fun stuff out and about
Happy Guessing! The contest will close at 11:59 PM (EST) Monday, June 2nd & a winner announced sometime on Tuesday June 3rd.
My daughter, Anna, is my biggest fan. Whenever I’m labeling yarn she wants to touch it, pet it, hug & kiss it, calling it “Mommy’s pretty yarn.”
This is the Yarn Haven (in Perrysburg, OH) May Sock Club installment.
I dyed up the yarn for a somewhat local (same state, just on the other side from me) yarn shops May installment of their sock club.
Sarahlou organizes it and she’s a pleasure to deal with. The club likes a local twists to their yarns so I hunted down a poem about the area from the 1800’s and used that as my inspiration-
On Maumee, on Maumee,
‘Tis Ague in the fall;
The fit will shake them so,
It rocks the house and all.
There’s a funeral every day,
Without a hearse or pall;
They tuck them in the ground
With breeches, coat and all!
On Maumee has tan, khaki and browns and while it may not look like much in the skein, I fell in love with the colorway as I was knitting the sample up. SarahLou also knit up some Maumee Monkeys and recommends the pattern to her sock club.
